Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet with Spencer the director and Ben the producer at CORE Cinema. They began to lay out the scope of their film, and I was blown back by their ambition. With almost 6 years of experience in media creation, I was still trying to comprehend the amount of work that would go into this project. And even though this film won't require much of the work I specialize in, I still realized they will need as much help as they can get.
After showing them some of my work in visual effects and motion graphics from the past couple of years, I expressed interest to be involved in other elements of production. Explaining that CG shots would require some special planning, I also mentioned that I'd like to help out on set with the shoot. It would be beneficial for me to get used to the crew during this project so that for the next one, where camera tracking might be necessary, we'd be comfortable.
By the time we parted, I already had a piece to start working on. So I'm off to study force fields, sparks, and smoke simulation.
Update: The project has moved out of state, and I am no longer involved in its development.
